Goalkeeper Jeban Tembo has left Red Arrows after six years at the club and is set to join ZANACO FC, the ZamFoot Crew understands.
The 23-year-old former Zambia Under-20 goalkeeper is believed to be heading to Sunset Stadium, having been spotted at the venue on Saturday when ZANACO hosted Aguila Stars in a pre-season friendly.
Tembo has now confirmed his departure from Red Arrows, bringing an end to a six-year spell with the Airmen.
In a farewell message, Tembo thanked the club’s management, coaches, teammates and supporters for their role in his development.
“Red Arrows, you’ve been home,” Tembo said.
“From the tough training to the big wins, from the fans at Nkoloma to the brotherhood in the dressing room – thank you for the love, lessons and memories.”
Tembo described his time at Red Arrows as an important part of his career and said he would continue to support the club following his departure.
“Six years. Countless memories. One big family,” he added. “I’m leaving the club but I’m not leaving the memories. I’ll be cheering for you from afar and wishing the team more trophies and success.”
At ZANACO, Tembo is expected to compete with Francis Mwansa and Lameck Banda for the starting goalkeeper’s position.
His departure from Nkoloma comes as Red Arrows close in on the signing of Nkwazi goalkeeper Lukas Mainza.
Mainza is on the verge of joining the Airmen and is expected to challenge Charles Kalumba for the number-one position.
The goalkeeping changes form part of the preparations by both clubs ahead of the new season, with ZANACO adding competition between the posts while Red Arrows look to replace one of their long-serving goalkeepers.
