  1. Why winston kalengo and jackson mwanza???this coach is blind. He can’t see that mapulanga and the 2 are over the age of 30yrs old?

  2. I think the coach should have used more U23, U20 and U17 players for this tournament. lets build the lads confidence and introduce them to tournaments of this magnitude. The one senior player who should and is included is Kennedy Mweene. With his current situation at Sundowns it will be a confidence booster going into the world cup and Africa cup qualifiers.

In as much as it would be very nice to have a dozen COSAFA cups on the FAZ shelves it will mean more to build a solid team for the bigger picture, the World Cup in 2018.

We have nailed the regional tournament – Cosafa
We have nailed the Continental tournament – The Afcon
Now its time to nail qualification to the biggest sporting tournament in the world – The world cup.

    • Thats the point. You’re right. The U17, U20 and U23 should have been called for this tournament. Of the strikers, we expect Patrick Ngoma, Patrick Daka, Charles Zulu, etc to have been called up. The COSAFA should be used as a stage to bring in young and upcoming players, not the likes of Jackson Mwanza.

  3. I don’t understand why janza always left moses phiri on his list of which his a good player compared 2 kalengo ,munthali & nsabata.

    • At this point, Munthali has proved himself that he can play as COSAFA level. Moreover he was also tested at AFCON in EG. So he deserves to be in the squad. You’re right on the likes of Winston Kalengo. Some U-20 or U17 players can even do better.

  4. Southern African football seems to have taken another slump again. After South Africa’s and Zambia’s Afcon wins in 2006 and 2012 respectively you would expect a shift in African footballing power but the dismal showing at Afcon 2013 and 2015 and now that no Southern African club has made it further in the CAF champions league makes the picture look even bleaker.
As Zambians we are very quick to throw the hammer at our FA especially our FA president Kalu, but how is it that the whole region is just not developing in terms of good showing at these tournaments? Is it all the FA presidents that are not working properly?
COSAFA is many years old now, by measure of tournaments other than COSAFA and players, has there been true value to the region coming from this tournament?

  5. The Squad Is Well Balanced.Let’s Use The Same Players For Chan Qualification Matches.Coach Yo Selection Is Good Especially That Most Of The Players Are In Form Whether A Mpulanga Or A Skillful Player.I Remember In The Late 90’s Wen Cosafa Was Just Introduce. The Players We Refered Mpulangaish Performed Wel.Let’s Support Our National.Go Zambia.

  6. OK team. Am happy with the inclusion of the Billy(CD) and Boyd(LB). The only problem is I don’t see a proper right back as Donasha is failing us in that position. Why don’t they try Govender or Doubti Musekwa. There s even Dominic Yobe who can play well in that position.

  7. The U23 should participate in this COSAFA. Janza was complaining last time about FAZ talking about his job on media, why can’t he step down ? Why stick to the job when your employers are not impressed with your perfomance ?

  8. What is this? COSAFA with professionals? Why not use budding talent? But this coach zoona, or maybe football talent in Zambia is done hence same old failures of players.
