Jacob Mulenga helps himself to a brace

Jacob Mulenga was on Saturday back to scoring ways when he netted a brace to help his club Shijiazhuang Yongchang to a resounding 3 – 0 victory over Changchun Yatai.

Mulenga as usual led the line for his team as the lone striker and opened the scored in the 18th minute and completed his brace in the 66th minute.

Midfielder M Rondon scored the other goal.

While his career in Europe was rocked by frequent injuries, Mulenga has managed to remain on his feet in China playing all the 21 games his team has played with a return of seven goals now.

  1. The only two strikers Jacob could link up with well are both out of the team. Mbesuma and Chamanga. Granted Jacob’s exploits have been okay for his club football, he has not replicated that at national team level except against Lesotho if my memory serves me right.

We need a coach who can utilise his style but again its difficult to build a team around him because he is an off on guy prone to injuries.

  2. Jacob Mulenga performed well at Afcon 2010 when we reached the quarterfinals he scored four goals for zambia….do u follow football Jacob scored a goal against Togo 2006 world qualifier that strongest togo team that went to world cup we won 1-0…..

    • You have said it all I was just about to respond to Bolapazed but you have done it very nicely. Short of the story is that this is the only scoring striker we have at the moment.

  3. The only problem with our coaches they don’t monitor all the players. We need a coach who understand the style of play Zambia should adept and the most important aspect is which player could fit in the team. That’s why our players fail to make it for trials, coaches say ‘So and So don’t have what we are looking for’ Jacob could add value to our struggling Zambia. Mayuka,Kola,Jacob, Lubambo,Singuluma and Evens are full strikers

  4. experience will always make a difference in any team. Arsenal Veneer knows this too well. Zambia will do well with experienced goal scoring boots mixed with youthful speed.

  5. The problem with our coaches is lack of full information about our players abroad, wat i mean is that they don,t monitor our players abroad as well as their fomation which suit them, quite alright a player may be scoring for his club abroad and wen he is called for national team he fails to perform, this is mainly not coz they can not but the formations employed by the coach, that’s why we need a coach with experience and able to use the players that we have. It is actually not that our players can not perform but the problem is how to utilise them properly, that’s why we need chama chisupa on the technical bench how watches our players playing football in their respective clubs abroad.

  6. The 29-year-old wants to make a name for himself in English football and would appear to have several options to consider as he contemplates a summer switch. There is a lot of interest in Jacob,’ Mulenga’s agent Willie McKay told Sky Sports.
