Copper Queens forward Rachel Kundananji says the fans should continue supporting the team because they will never give up because they want to take Zambia to the World ( Zambia Ku Chalo) or nothing.
Kundananji was speaking in a pre match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 second group game against Nigeria. She believes the encouragement from the fans is what pushes the team to keep going.
The match will kickoff at 21h00 local time and 22h00 Zambian time at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat.
“The fans should continue being supportive as they have always been. We have come a long way together through both the good and the bad times, and they have always been there for us and I just want to say they should continue supporting us and encouraging us, it is what’s taking us higher, we will never give up because it’s Zambia Ku Chalo or nothing,” she said.
The Bay FC strikers says the morale in Camp is high and that the team is ready for this tough encounter which could determine the fate of both sides.
“The morale is high in camp and the team is ready. We understand it is not an easy task. It is a game that will determine both teams’ fate, a game that will make everything either easier or tougher. It won’t be an easy game, but we are looking forward to it and ready to do our best,” she said.
“We all know it is not going to be an easy game. We just need to be prepared mentally and physically also . I always say the ball is round so it doesn’t matter how strong your opponents are; what matters is the approach. The team is fully prepared. We have been preparing for this game since the day we were drawn in the group. It’s not new to us, it’s not our first time playing Nigeria and we know what Nigeria are capable of and they also know what we are capable of ,” Kundananji added.
The former Madrid CFF player was quick to admit that playing a team of the calibre of the 10 time WAFCON Champions motivates the Copper Queens and helps them to become better.
“We have played so many times against Nigeria. Knowing how tough this game is , I think winning this game will mean a lot not to just us but to the whole country. It’s very good to play against big teams and big players. It motivates us to do better and it helps challenge ourselves and become better,” she said.
“Like the coach said, we don’t look at problems but solutions. You know we learn from mistakes. Every mistake helps us learn something new when we go back to the drawing board to find a solution which our coaches helped us to do. First games are always difficult; there is no small team or big team. I believe in my team, we are always confident,happy people who always enjoy the game.”
A win for the Copper Queens will see them seal a place on the quarter finals and be within 90 minutes of a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
