It’s important that we get maximum points – Mutapa

Power Dynamos head coach Oswald Mutapa says his side are eying maximum points when they host Kabwe Warriors at Arthur Davies Stadium in a rescheduled week 12 encounter.

Abayellow will be looking to build on their 2-1 win over Konkola Blades as they also hope to keep pace with log leaders Red Arrows.

Mutapa says his side has prepared well for the Magnificent People’s team after having a full week of preparations for the first time in a long time.

“My take on tomorrow’s (today) game, games will always be tough. No game will be easy. They are coming from a loss. They are wounded. They are coming to fight for points. We are playing at home. Just like you alluded to, we need to close the gap to the team which is on top of us. So it’s important that we get maximum points. Yes, we know it won’t be easy, but we have to fight and get maximum points,” he said.

“Yes, we have had a full week of training, but also trying to give the players a bit of freshness. But yes, we have prepared well for Warriors within this full week. Yes, it has been long, but we have gotten the freshness that we needed and planned for the game.”

With Lawrence Mulenga and Willard Mwanza away on national duty, Josphat Lilanda will continue in goal having played in the last two games.

Mutapa says the technical bench has full confidence in the young goalkeeper and feel he is ready for the task in the absence of the two Chipolopolo goalkeepers.

“I know others think it’s an issue, it isn’t an issue with the technical bench, equally the players around him for us it’s normal you are supposed to be given game time. He is a player that we register, we don’t register players just to sit on the bench we register players that they help us. This is his time he has done so far so well in the two games we have played yes we have conceded two goals in the two games that we have played but it wasn’t his fault we have given him the confidence to play and he is going to play tomorrow and the other game to come,” he said.

Abayellow have recorded 16 wins in the last 35 matches against Kabwe Warriors losing 10 while the other nine have ended in draws.

The MTN Super League defending Champions are actually on a three match winning run in this fixture and will be looking to extend it this afternoon.

Kick off at Arthur Davies Stadium is set for 15h00 Central African Time with charges set at K30 open win and K300 VIP.
