Chipolopolo Boys forward Kingston Mutandwa says it’s a big motivation to face a big team with big players as Argentina.
Mutandwa was speaking on arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport ahead of departure for Buenos Aires.
“It’s really a motivation. We are playing against experienced players, big players of course, so I think this is a motivation not just for me but for everybody to prove that we are a nation that can do something,” he said.
Mutandwa has enjoyed fine form this season with SV Ried in the Austrian Bundesliga making eleven goals contributions (9 goals and 2 assists).
Mutandwa says he wants to keep pushing himself and bring the same energy to the Chipolopolo Boys set up.
“I need to continue pushing myself, motivate myself. Not only in Austria, I need to bring the energy also to the team, to the nation. I think it’s really important,” Mutandwa said.
He believes the Chipolopolo Boys have good quality players like Patson Daka and Lameck Banda.
He also asked the fans to keep supporting the team as they face one of the best National teams’ in the World.
“I really don’t know about that, but I believe that we have quality players. We have Patson, we have Lameck. These players have quality to deliver for the nation. But I believe that football is a box of surprises, so I think. That, uh…
“I can say that they should support us first of all, as we are going to play with one of the best nations so far. I think now that I’m here, I think maybe everybody now is going to be happy, I guess. So I think we just need to work hard to deliver for the nation and for our fans.”
Chipolopolo will face world champions Argentina in an international friendly on March 31, 2026 at the Iconic La Bombonera Stadium.
