Chipolopolo midfielder Nathan Sinkala will stay with the team in Equatorial Guinea despite being ruled out of the tournament after sustaining an injury in the opening game against Congo DR.
Sports permanent secretary Agness Musunga who visited the Switzerland based players at his hotel room in Equatorial Guinea yesterday said it was important that the vice-captain stays with the team in Ebebeyin to keep a good morale in camp.
“I want to assure you that the Government and indeed everyone in Zambia is with you in this predicament. We wish you a speedy recovery,” Ms Musunga who is head of the government delegation at the tournament said.
Sinkala tore a ligament in his knee and was substituted during the 1 – 1 draw against Congo DRC.
Zambia tomorrow play Tunisia at the Nuevo Estadio de Ebebiyín in a game that kicks off at 18:00hrs.
This game for Zambia will be make it or break it. Iam looking forward for this encounter. This game won’t be physical like that one for ba Kasayi, they kicked our players. The battle line has been drawn in the middle of the park, We need Lubambo Musonda and Mukuka Mulenga ,Kalaba and Chisamba to make the cut in the midfeild. I just wonder how our former captain Chris will gauge Janza. This is cold war.
you are talking no sense iwe mususu
Donashano should step up take over Sinkala’s role just behind the central defenders. He may play well in that position seeing that he is a “hard man” or should I say strong man. He struggles at right back. Hope the boys do well against Tunisia.
Specer Sautu & Kondwani partnership tate.
Then defence? Munthali to partner Sunzu? Kaya!
Ba sports PS, where were you when travel arrangements were needed. You show up for an injured player, but bury your head in the sand when needed. Kabiyeni uko.
She is supposed to be voting back in Zambia. Ama allowances aya bwafya mwee..
Lol. So true.
First round elimination ! Activated
the germany of africa ghana, is goin Home on the 28 january, and one fan matongo asante has attested to this.
@Mutongo Asante How is the mood in Ghana knowing that your are about to do what you do best and that’s being trouph-less
@mutongo Asante i agree with you. Ghana is out for sure. they are playing like school boys. its good you have noticed that
Ghana is going home, this Afcon is very difficult than the 2013 edition. All groups are balanced a draw and a win stand a better chance than losing. They can only win if they get a ghost penalty.
Injured players should be replaced. Supposing we progress to meet tougher opponents who will kick the ass out of our small players, we will go on keeping the injured?
Janza should come up with a winning formula tomorrow, he should play a 4-2-3-1 formation, Chisamba should partner Malama in defensive mid, the Kalaba, Singuluma and perhaps Musonda as our 3 attacking midfielders. Mayuka or Kangwa as a lone striker. Sate Sate should come from the bench.
Yes nice one Duncandinho. This is exactly what we need. I can choose Kangwa ahead of Mayuka (4-2-3-1).
Mweene
Nkausu___Sunzu___Mtonga___Mbola

Mayuka/Kangwa
Chisamba in midfield…noooooo. Do you not recall that it was Chisamba who lost the ball in midfield to Obi Mikel thus allowing Nigeria to score against Zambia in 2013.
He has the energy, but he stays on the ball too long and he is too attack minded to play in that central role. With 3 attacking midfielders behind the lone striker, you need a box to box midfielder to help cover the defensive midfielder and I can honestly say moving Mtonga up there or brininging young Spencer Sautu might be the best option.
OK, understood.
malama sunzu nkausu mbola
mtonga spencer sautu
lubambo musonda singuluma rainford kalaba
mayuka/kangwa
This afcon is very physical even if we progress to the next round which I don’t see happening looking at the way other countries are playing I feel for our small bodied players
However this can work to our advantage if the couch was clever using the skill that we have unlike that chipantepante we witnessed
Janza can’t read games why did he tell the boys to play long balls when we had height disadvantage lad sate sate
Muyuka as well we should consider dropping him he thinks his place is secured even when he’s not performing he was not even fighting for the ball
Chisamba lungu was losing possession a lot
And he is responsible for that goal
Lastly truth be told janza is NOT a good coach!
Anyway zed Calo cesu all the best tomorrow… Good luck boys I hope to eat akabwali before the game
Janza has made one big and costly mistake and that is team selection. The ngoma boy was never supposed to be selected for this afcon. Janza has too many strikers. Janza has not selected a proper central midfielder to replace isaac chansa and that is his biggest mistake
I was thinking the same as well. Why choose all these striker and yet you don’t use them. They are just taking up space. Jackson Mwanza, Patrick Ngoma, for what? He should at least kept Bronson Chama or Aaron Katebe. Now see what is happening. We don’t have credible replacement in midfield and defense. Janza of all people should have known the team better. He was with the team during AFCON 2012 and AFCON 2013. Surely we as soccer fans should not be calling players for him to include in the team. If we didn’t call for Mtonga he was not going to include him. This man deserves to be an assistant coach to an experienced coach. Lets see how far we can go. Anyway mistake has been made already, we just need to support him for now and move forward.
Agreed. The optimum would have been to also bring a better defensive partner for Sunzu, which would have allowed Mtonga to move into midfield.
I think our coach tomoro should improve on reading the game tomoro, let Mweene start in goal, let’s maintain Nkausu as right back, Mbola left back (but he’s a suspect but I don’t see any other player) let’s take a risk by bringing in Munthali to partner Sunzu and push Kondwani in holding midfield role, push kalaba @ number 8, bring in Lubambo @ number 11 and Chisamba 7 push Given to partner Mayuka and rest Kampamba ( and is he’s to bring him in let him play at number 9 and not 10).
If I understand you well. This is your squad alignment
(4-1-3-2) with Kalaba as play maker and Mtonga in defensive midfield role: Not bad but the issue is the central midfield, we need an extra man there. North Africans like suffocating and dominating the midfield and using wingers and counter attacks. Our midfield, right and left backs need to be at their best. Lets see what the coach does tomorrow.

Nkausu___Sunzu___Munthali___Mbola

Its true…I think north africans like conjesting the central midfield and for us to get maximum points we need to use the wings(in route to 2012, we played libya in the coperbelt, we failed to utilise the wing coz they were packed in the midfield and we drew). We need pace in the midfield and I see that in lubambo and chisamba(only if he can reduce dribling), kalaba should up his game this time and play as the master as we know him as play maker tomoro.
Evance kangwa should not be on the bench, kangwa has the power, speed, he is a ball winner and has exellent ball distribution ability. only Janza knows why he should bench such a player for sate sate whom in my oppinion can not march kangwa. if Janza benches Evance tomorrow, campain for his removal begins imediatly
@ Leo you are 100% right. We can’t play long balls, we call it dum, dum we should start from the back going forward putting the cross into the channels inside the 16 yead. We can’t afford playing long balls when our plays are small in size and shot as such playing 4-4-2. Our players should be so quick on the ball and utilize there chances created.
SATE IS NOT A BENCH WARMER MATERIAL,MAYUKA IS.SATES’ PRESENSE IN TOP BOX IS A DANGER TO ANY TEAM.HE IS SELFLESS THAN YUKA,HE CAN DRIBBLE A PACK OF DEFENDERS,HE IS UNPREDICTABLE,HE IS A SHARP SHOOTER,REMEMBER THE GOAL HE SCORED ON JUBILEE PASSING TWO DEFENDER ,HE USED BOTH LEGS.KANGWA IS STRONG AT NO.!10 GIVEN IS INTELLIGENT PUT HIM ON THE WING ,KALABA MUST DICTATE AT THE MID WITH MUSONDA.WE JUST NEED A LONE JAGUAR ,SATE ON TOP!
Uuuuhm?????????
Billy has said the truth and that’s where Kay hummer is right on Janza. I’m impressed with janza’s results but his team selection leaves much to be desired. As Kay hummer has stated Janza has selected too many small boys. Ngoma is not supposed to be there. There is no balance in the team selection with too many strikers. You only need 4 strikers for a 3 week tournament. Why has he carried all those strikers to the point where he is playing a striker in midfield. The midfield was porous because he has not selected enough central midfielders. Kay hummer and many others are spot on the criticism they have given Janza on team selection.
SATE KANGWA MUSONDA ARE SMALL BOYS FOR JAPAN IVORYCOAST UGANDA BUT THE BIG BOYS ARE GOOD STRUGGLERS THEY FAILED TO QUALIFY US TO WORLD CUP WITH A TOP EUROPEAN COACH.OLD GENERATION WAKE UP TIME IS NOW!GO ZAMBIA GO VIVA JANZA !VIVA JUBILEE3030!
are u okey, & where are u coming from?
Get well soon Nathan!
I’m afraid Sinkala might end up to China, this was supposed to be his opportunity to impress scouts.
@BINGO YOU ARE RIGHT ON SATE SATE, THIS BOY IS INTELLIGENT ON THE BALL, TRUTH BE TOLD! HE NEVER LOST A BALL WHEN HE HAD IT IN THAT GAME AND THAT IS SOMETHING RENARD FAILED TO RECOGNIZE AND OPTED TO PLAY GERUDI(FESTUS MBEWE) AND BONWELL MWAPE. I GIVE JANZA SOME KUDOS ON THIS ONE, WHERE WE ARE MISSING IS YOU CANT SEE STATE SATE WHERE THERE IS NO BALL AND I THINK MAYUKA HAS BEEN SELFISH EACH TIME HE IS PARTNERED WITH SATE SATE. BA COACH PLEASE PARTNER SATE SATE WITH KANGWA NOT MAYUKA HE HAS PROVEN TO ME THAT HE IS NOT MAYUKA IN GHANA VS ZAMBIA GAME. ON THE STRIKERS WE HAVE IN THE TEAM I THINK KALU HAS AN ANSWER WHY THAT YOUNG PATRICK NGOMA IS THERE, ACCORDING TO MY MEASURED OPINION PATSON DAKA IS MORE LETHAL THAN THIS BOY THOUGH HE HAS BEEN OVER RATED, THIS PATRICK NGOMA TO IS AN ATTACKING MIDFIELDER NOT A STRIKER. SPENCER SAUTU MAY BE A (SMALL BOY)(BORROWED WORDS)BUT HE IS A GOOD REPLACEMENT FOR SINKALA. MAYUKA SHOULD NOT START PLEASE ! I MISS PASTOR MULENGA PULU , ANY WITH THE INFORMATION IS WHERE ABOUT?
I MEANT ON THE ISSUE FOR PATRICK NGOMA
Tunisia will win by three goals.

Tunisia 2 zambia 0
Ghana 3 Algeria 1
Gyaaaaaaaan
Guys,
Here’s my suggestion. Please note I am not a coach, but this just based on my observation of the game against DRC.
Mweene
Nkausu Munthali Sunzu Mbola
Mtonga Sautu/Malama
Chisamba Singuluma Kalaba
Mayuka/Evans Kangwa
1. With Mtonga in midfield, you are able to cover for Munthali’s weaknesses. Mtonga can easily drop back into defence, but also provide a ball winner in midfield
2. Sautu would also play a similar role. Mbola lost the ball to the Congolese midfielder because maybe he thought he could take him, but providing him another centre outlet prevents our full backs from being pressed off the ball
3. Singuluma has to start. He has been Zambias most effective weapon upfront. Playing him behind the main striker further up the field provides an ideal position for him to track back and still push the attack. He is not a great ball distributor, but he has improved on his ability to hold the ball, which would be key to allowing the fullbacks to press into attack.
4. Kalaba, should be key. For Kalaba to be a factor…you have to give him the ball period. Kalaba is just as dangerous with the ball as he is without, but that will only work if Zambia is not pinned back in the defensive shell.
Anyway. That’s my 2 cents, hopefully it makes sense.
@ positive think your analysis is brilliant. It makes u realise football is actually a science and you need a coach with a good tactical brain. Our advantage with a local coach is that he really knows the players and he knows their strengths. The expatriates from Holland and Mexico will just add a bit more science to our game to assist Janza. My only problem is this ngoma boy. Why was he selected we didn’t need him. Looking now at the injury to sinkala you can see we are a bit short of options in defence.
Yeah John. Agreed, bringing Ngoma was not the best choice. If Nyambe had been well, definitely think Ngoma would have given way. My other fear is a Sunzu yellow card. Then we’ll really be in trouble.
I think in this point in time we should be worrying of how we are go to sort out the Carthege Eagles not why that Ngoma lad is in the squad, important issues like who will be with Sunzu as it is likely Mtonga will be moved to central midfield with probably Malama.
Zambia will win by 2-1, Tunisia are a good side but will beat them. Algeria 6- 0 Ghana,
No ghost penalty for Ghana, this is not 2013 Afcon, Go Algeria Go beat this wast Africa.
We have not beaten Tunisia at a competitive level for a while now. If anything, Tunisia have been finding it easier to bullock Zambia than any other country. This is not one game Janza can expect a positive result without a proper winning strategy. Having younger players in the team is actually supposed to be an advantage as young players are normally more energetic and faster. I have my own question marks about Mbola as, in the game against our neighbours he was the main passage to our goal area. If we are to achieve any positive result, the team will have to play with their foot off the brake pad.
