Indeni Roses Football Club have lodged a formal complaint with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) over the use of midfielder Edith Phiri by ZESCO Ndola Girls in the 2026 Charity Shield.
The Ndola-based club says the complaint centres on what it describes as the unauthorised access of its FIFA Connect portal, the circumstances surrounding Phiri’s registration with ZESCO Ndola Girls and her contractual status.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Indeni Roses said Phiri was engaged under a contract that ran until 31 August 2026, with an option for an extension.
The club says it did not receive communication from the player regarding the extension by the stated deadline and maintains that the contractual procedures for terminating the relationship were not followed.
Indeni Roses further alleges that there were unauthorised approaches to the player by ZESCO Ndola Girls and that its FIFA Connect portal was accessed and used without authorisation.
The club has referred the matter to the FAZ Player Status and Transfer Regulations Committee, requesting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the registration.
Among its requests, Indeni Roses is seeking compensation in line with the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP), disciplinary action against parties it alleges were involved in the unauthorised access, and guidance on compliance with FAZ, CAF and FIFA regulations.
The club has also raised concerns over the involvement of what it describes as a “rogue named agent” claiming to represent the player.
Indeni Roses said it would not issue further substantive comments while the matter is under consideration by FAZ.
The dispute follows Phiri’s appearance for ZESCO Ndola Girls in the 2026 Charity Shield against Green Buffaloes Women.
Indeni Roses said it remains committed to contractual compliance, good governance and safeguarding the integrity of women’s football in Zambia.
FAZ has yet to publicly communicate its position on the complaint.
