The Inaugural FAZ Women’s (National) Super League got off to a flying start with six goals scored in the two early kick-offs which saw Lusaka Dynamos and Red Arrows recording convincing wins.
At Edwin Imboela Stadium, Nkwazi Queens welcomed Lusaka Dynamos in what was their first competitive meeting but second overall as the two teams met in a friendly match with the Elite Ladies winning 1-0 thanks to a goal by Elizabeth Mupeso.
Lusaka Dynamos were the first to settle and looked the hungrier of the two with wave of attack after wave of attack. The early pressure paid off as Elizabeth Mupeso was found in space and made no mistake scoring with a brilliant strike giving Eunice Sakala no chance in goal.
Nkwazi reorganized and came back in the game but they were a letdown in the final third. The game went to the break with Lusaka Dynamos leading 1-0 and the visitors looked the better side the whole half.
Lusaka Dynamos added a second four minutes into the second half, Grace Tembo capitalizing on a defensive mix-up to slot home from close range before clashing into an onrushing Eunice Sakala.
Nkwazi made changes with the likes of Precious Nsama, Annie Chikoko, Hope Nalungwe for Tukiya Mufishi, Wezi Mkandawire, and Elina Mwanza but it was a little too late even with a some improved attacking football in the last few minutes, Lusaka Dynamos held on to win 2-0.
FAZ Deputy General Secretary, Joseph Chimpampwe awarded two outstanding players (picked by the ZamFoot Crew), one from each team with a token of appreciation, Delicious Hamwinga from Nkwazi Queens and Elizabeth Mupeso from Lusaka Dynamos.
Elsewhere, Red Arrows thrashed Central Province side, Queens Academy 4-0 thanks to goals from Mary Wilombe, Mary Mambwe, Ochumba Oseke Lubanji, and Square Maiwase.
Three more games will take place this afternoon with Indeni Roses facing stubborn Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA), National Assembly welcome ZISD while Zesco United Girls welcome Green Buffaloes Women’s football club.
