Green Eagles have started the 2017 league campaign on a high with a vital 1 – 0 away win against City of Lusaka.
A 20th minute penalty by Andrew Phiri settles the tie in a game that produced little spark.
City had off the field challenges and had to change their initial starting eleven as some players have not been registered and went into the game with two substitutes.
Eagles were in control of the proceedings from the start and were unlucky to see a header canon off the cross bar in the early exchanges.
Hard working Greenwell Witika was quick to react to put Joseph Phiri under pressure after a poor back pass and once he got a touch on the poor clearance by the keeper there was very little Phiri could do but bundle him to the ground for a penalty.
Andrew picked his spot to give the visitors the lead in the 20th minute from the penalty spot.
Eagles had another chance after another poor back pass in the 40th minute but Spencer Sautu and Witika went for the same ball with Witika’s lobbed shot going over the bar.
The Eagles defense looked pretty comfortable but were breaches by a good run on the right that saw Warren Kunda fail to clear but Mwanza in goal was quick off the line to make a double save which saw him deny Morgan Kaoma who had a fine crack at goal from inside the box.
City ended the game strong but despite wave after wave of attack they still failed to breach the Eagles defense.

Useless teams both of them not premier league teams just there to make up numbers, point donors should revist this and go back to the at least 16 team league and this Nkana is not going to win the league
wow the league just kicked off my man…slow your row on the negative vibe. Lets see what the number increase will do after at least 10 games.
