Igesund interviews for Chipolopolo top job

The Football Association of Zambia FAZ has continuedcthe search for the next Chipololo coach with South African coach Gordon Igesund the latest to be interviewed.

Igesund was spotted at Football House ahead of the interview on Friday afternoon.

The former Sundowns coach arrived at Football House at  13:08 hours and immediately after his arrival,  veteran coach Fred Mwila Snr and Football pundit Ivy Lengwe, who are part of the FAZ interviewing panel arrived at around 13:15.

While there was circus when Frenchmam Sebastien Dsebare was interviewed as neither Andrew Kamanga nor FAZ CEO Ponga Liwewe were present, its different this time around as the latter is available.

Other coaches earmarked for interview include Wedson Nyirenda and Phillipe Trousier.

TheChipolopolo are currently being coached by caretaker coach George Lwandamina who is also coach of Zesco United.

The national team coaching job has not been filled since the departure of 2012 Afcon winning coach Herve Renard in 2013.

PatriceBeaumelle and Honour Janza are the other coaches who have  filled the void in this period.

  4. People lets be honest here, Ponga is a friend to Igesund. Now ba Ponga is trying to bring a bunch of loses to Zambian football.

Please Zambia is a footballing nation and we don’t need Igesund here.
What makes think that Kalusha doesn’t know this guy.

  5. Gordon Igesund is also my choice…still remember what he did with Manning rangers in the 90’s. To prove his achievement was no fluke he went on to win championships with 3 other clubs. His failure with Bafana wasn’t surprising; I think they hold the record of coaches in Africa. Gordon builds team but Bafana expects instant results that’s not easy when you step into the job when you don’t have enough quality players to work with. This is exactly where Chipolopolo stands right now.It needs someone who can re-build us a team from the ground up. As fans we must also be prepared to give the coach time….we’ve fallen so low!

  6. Honestly ba Faz igesund sure??? A south african reject and u waste taxpayers money 2 even interview him, we r nt lesotho or mauritius. Then i shud also apply i hv coached a variety of local komboni teams giv me an interview atleast.

  7. Let FAZ just hire the former Black stars Coach – Goran Stevanovic , he seems to still have the passion for African Football. I also think his history with Ghana is impressive as he was only beaten once in competitive games against the Mighty Chipolopolo , of course he also lost a friendly to Brazil and drew with the Three Lions.

  8. Ba Faz Phillple Trous Is A Good Coach I Think You Should Hir Him Please Time Is Runingout Plz Ba Faz Philliple Is The Man To The Job.
