Mighty Mufulira Wanderers defender Bwembya Kakungu says he needs to work hard to prove himself and represent his town well.
Kakungu was handed a call up to the local squad that is preparing for the 2023 COSAFA Cup with two international friendly matches away in North Africa.
The local Chipolopolo assemblage will face Kuwait today and Morocco later on to get set for the COSAFA Cup that takes place next month.
Kakungu gained promise when he gave a near perfect performance at Nkoloma Stadium during Mufulira Wanderers 1-0 loss to Power Dynamos in the ABSA Cup quarter finals back in March.
“I feel very excited for my call up to the Chipolopolo. I just need to work hard to prove myself because being called to the National Team is not easy. I need to represent My town Mufulira well,” he said.
On Wanderers qualification to the Super League:Being promoted was not easy, we came to the Super League to compete and stay.”
The team will start its buildup for their COSAFA Cup defence and beyond that the CHAN qualifiers this evening with a friendly against Kuwait at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.
Kickoff of the friendly is at 19h00 Zambia time (20h00 Cairo time).
Numba Mumamba’s side will face Morocco in their final friendly on the North African tour on June 19 in Rabat.
