I know how Zanaco plays – Kaunda

Nkwazi football club yesterday beat seven time Zambia Super League Champions, Sensational Zanaco 3-2 in a Mtn/Faz Super league week 3 encounter played at the Nkoloma stadium in Lusaka.

The Zambia Police sponsored side started like a house on fire and scored early in the 16th minute through Eric Chomba and later on went to the half-time leading 2-0 with Jeff Banda grabbing Nkwazi’s second goal of the day.

Speaking to the ZamFoot Crew after the match, Nkwazi head coach Coach Chris Kaunda was happy with his players and how they stuck to his instructions.

“I remember during the transitional season, I said i was developing a team and we are almost there now. I know how Zanaco plays, I knew they were going to play in our hands,” he said.

“We had to take our lone striker Eric Chomba out, to them he was playing number 11, he was not getting so involved in the play, he was just making those runs. Throughout this week we kept teaching him how to make those runs and it worked.”

“We knew that if we keep the ball Zanaco will chase, we told Christopher Zulu not to rush but just keep the ball and if a chance comes to score them you can score,” he added.

Eric Chomba scored a brace and Jeff Banda added a goal while Zanaco scored through Zimbabwean international Tafadzwa Rusike and former KRC Genk forward Roger
Kola.
