Zesco United finally dropped points following a goalless draw at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium against Green Eagles while Nkana won their fourth game in a row to stay fourth on the log.
The MTN/FAZ Super League entered week 12 of action with Zesco United welcoming Green Eagles. The Ndola giants had won all their first nine games and were looking to make it ten wins from ten games. Team ya Ziko, however, missed their chance to move to 30 points as they missed a lot of chances to make sure the match ended 0-0.
In Solwezi, History was on the horizon as Supersport went to beam their first doubleheader at the Solwezi Independence Stadium. The first match saw Lumwana Radiants face-off with Twelve-time Super League Champions, Nkana in an early kick-off and it was the 2018 player of the season Idriss Ilunga Mbombo who was the difference as his brace handed Nkana maximum points winning the match 2-0.
In the second match of the day at Independence Stadium, Kansanshi Dynamos welcomed Team Kopala. The match ended in a one-all draw. Royd Alufonso showed great composure to finish off with easy but the lead was short-lived as Moses Phiri scored from the penalty spot to level matters, 1-1 the match ended.
At Woodlands Stadium it was raining goals as Napsa Stars edged Sensational Zanaco in a five-goal thriller to reduce Zesco United’s lead at the summit to four points. Napsa Stars won the match 3-2 with goals from Doisy Soko (who scored his first goal for Napsa Stars), Collins Sikombe and Luka Banda while Souleymanou Moussa and Roger Kola scored the goals for Zanaco.
High Flying Nkwazi poor run of form continued as they suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Red Arrows at Nkoloma Stadium in a Lusaka derby. Jeff Banda’s own goal secured maximum points for Chisi Mbewe’s Airmen.
Forest Rangers came from a goal down to beat Mighty Mufulira Wanderers 2-1 ending a four-game winless streak. Rahim Osumanu put Wanderers in the lead in the first half but a goal from Zikiru Adams and a Peter Mwangani penalty where enough to turn things around and give Perry Mutapa and his team victory.
Lusaka dynamos were in ruthless form when they hosted KYSA beating them 3-0. Baba Basile scored a brace with Emmanuel Habasimbi scoring the other goal to give the Elite Lusaka dynamos side an emphatic 3-0 win.
