Zimbabwe edged Zambia 1-0 to lift the 2026 Mukuru Four Nations Tournament title, sealing victory in dramatic fashion late on.
The decisive moment came in the 88th minute when Zindonga Junior delivered a dangerous cross that took a cruel deflection off Kafuti Saisande, wrong-footing the goalkeeper and ending up in the back of the net to hand the Warriors the win.
Zambia, however, had their moments and can take pride in a resilient performance, particularly from shot-stopper Luka Mainza. The Nkwazi goalkeeper produced a string of outstanding saves to keep Chipolopolo in the contest for much of the match.
En route to the final, Zambia showed nerves of steel, edging Malawi 9-8 in a dramatic post-match penalty shootout after a tightly contested semi-final clash. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, were more convincing, brushing aside Botswana with a dominant 3-0 victory to secure their place in the final.
Despite falling short at the last hurdle, Zambia will draw positives from the tournament, while Zimbabwe celebrate a hard-fought triumph.
