Chipolopolo midfield ace Klings Kangwa’s Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) has dropped to the UEFA Europa League group stage.
This follows their Serbian outfit’s elimination from the UEFA Champions league following a 2-2 home draw against Maccabi Haifa and subsequently losing 4-5 on aggregate.
Belgrade failed at the last hurdle, Kangwa’s team went into Tuesday’s match trailing Maccabi Haifa 3-2 following their loss away in Israel last week and needed an outright win to seal qualification.
The Happy Hearts product came off the bench to replace Gelor Kanga in the 53rd minute after a surprise decision by Dejan Stanković to start the Zambian on the bench.
Red Star will know their opponents in the Europa League group stage on Friday when the draw is held in Istanbul, Turkey.
The 2022/2023 UEFA Europa League group stage will take place between 8th September 2022 and 3rd November, 2022.
