Green Buffaloes Women Football Club have completed the signing of prolific Zimbabwean striker Ethel Precious Tapiwa Chinyerere, widely known as the “Zimbabwean Haaland”, as the club strengthens its squad.
The highly-rated forward joins the Zambia Women’s Super League side from Zimbabwean outfit Chapungu Queens following another outstanding campaign in front of goal.
Chinyerere, the 2022 Zimbabwe Women’s Soccer League Golden Boot winner, arrives in Lusaka with a growing reputation as one of Southern Africa’s most clinical finishers. The striker scored an impressive 35 goals for club and country last season.
Nicknamed “Haaland” for her ruthless finishing ability and relentless attacking instincts, the Zimbabwe international is expected to add significant firepower to the Buffaloes frontline as the club targets success domestically.
The forward began her football journey at the age of six, playing street football with boys’ teams at Mkoba 4 Primary School in Zimbabwe before rising through the ranks at Chipembere Queens, FC Geo, Herentals Queens and eventually Chapungu Queens.
Her rapid rise earned her a debut for the Zimbabwe Women’s National Football Team in 2024, and she has since scored seven goals in 10 appearances for the Mighty Warriors.
Chinyerere was also part of the Zimbabwe squad that finished fourth at the 2026 COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa, featuring in every match including the third-place playoff defeat to Zambia Women’s National Football Team.
Her individual accolades continue to grow. Alongside her 2022 Golden Boot triumph, she enjoyed a stellar 2024 season where she claimed the Heart Cup Golden Boot award, was named Player of the Tournament, lifted the trophy, and later received the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe Player of the Year honour before earning a place in the FUZ Best XI.
In a statement, Green Buffaloes Women described the signing as a major statement of intent as the club continues building a squad capable of competing at the highest level.
