Zambia National Team head coach Avram Grant says players can go out of his squad and come back because no place is permanent.
The Israeli gaffer was speaking during a press conference held on Monday afternoon at Football House.
Grant was responding to a question about a number of regular players who have been left out of the squad for the four team tournament.
Midfielder Klings Kangwa, striker Fashion Sakala Jnr, Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, Kelvin Kapumbu, Rally Bwalya, Francis Mwansa, Rodrick Kabwe and Edward Chilufya have all missed out.
“I don’t talk about players that are not in the squad. First we need to give them respect. They took us to the Africa Cup after about nine years, but I need to try other things and other players. There is a different reason for each player,” he said.
“I want to continue moving forward and part of it is to see players who are doing well and give them a chance. They need to take their chance. The national team is not a closed club. You can go out , you can come back depending on my criteria for picking players for the national team,” he added.
Zambia will use the games as part of their preparations for the June round of FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Grant admitted that Morocco are better than his team but he is not afraid of them or any team.
“I always tell my players to know where you are, don’t be arrogant, and don’t be afraid. Morocco are better than us on paper but we saw from the last game, we closed them down. They only had two chances of which they scored one. Am not afraid of any team,” he said.
“They have players in the top leagues and that is a plus for them but we will be ready. They have the quality but we also want to show our quality.”
Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe last month agreed to hold a joint football tournament during the upcoming FIFA international window between 18-26 March 2024 in Lilongwe, Malawi.
Hope it helps us prepare for Morrocco & Tanzania we have to win these games. They had their fun in Ivory Coast.

That’s why I will keep on supporting our coach, he is a good coach. Kelvin Mubanga has an injury and for now it’s better we allow him to recover.
