Copper Queens forward Grace Chanda opened her account for Querétaro Femenil as the Gallos Blancos edged FC Juárez 2–1 in a tightly contested Liga MX Femenil round 14 encounter.
The match was Chanda’s second since returning from Injury which saw her sidelined for eight matches.
Juarez started strongly looking to test Marta Alemany Sanchez in the Gallos goal.
It was however Querétaro who came close with Emily Flores with a long range shot but Emily Alvarado managed to punch it away just before it dipped into the corner of her goal.
Half chances came for both sides but neither could find the breakthrough in the opening 45 minutes.
In the second stanza Querétaro again showed attacking intent early on and were rewarded with a breakthrough that set the tone for a competitive fixture.
The home side took the lead in the 63rd minute, Grace Chanda with a powerful shot after pouncing on a loose ball inside the area—her first for the club.
Juárez responded in the 73rd minute, Mora Bianca with a powerful header past Flores.
Querétaro restored their one goal lead four minutes later as Serahi Cecena arrived first to poke home from close range.
The win is Querétaro’s first for the season and sends them to four points and could be a timely boost to turn around their fortunes in their Liga MX Femenil campaign.
