Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu has revealed government held talks with the Football Association of Zambia, FAZ over the status of injured goalkeeper Hazel Nali.
Nkandu has also revealed that Nali will also undergo an operation on her ruptured Anterior Cruciate ligament, ACL either in India or New Zealand.
Below is the Minister’s post on his social media
Hon Elvis Nkandu writes…
Good afternoon fellow citizens;
Following your concerns regarding the Zambia Women’s National Team GoalKeeper Hazel Natasha Nali. We wish to inform the nation that the Government through our Ministry today had engaged the Zambia Football Governing Body FAZ and the following resolutions have been made.
- We have agreed with the Football Association of Zambia FAZ to allow the player to stay at the Women’s World Cup tournament.
- The Government through our Ministry will, however, take full responsibility for the player’s stay now and during the tournament, among other things.
- Regarding the player’s injury, we have asked the Football Association of Zambia to find where the player can undergo the treatment of her knee injury, and we are happy to report that FAZ had earlier engaged a medical institution that would treat the player in New Zealand and they were told that the player can only be treated in a couple of weeks ahead.
Meanwhile, the Football Association of Zambia later informed us of an alternative which is India, and we agreed that the player be taken to the named country for her medical treatment, thereafter, she would be flying back to New Zealand where she will join the rest of the team
Now that is good news & a proper administrative intervention. Let her be part of the squad she deserves it.
Thanks to all involved 🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲 on ward & forward even as we support the Chipolopolo B in a few minutes.
COSAFA is coming back home tonight.
Well done Minister
Thank Minister, but pliz pliz look into all the allegations arefore mentioned in Nali’s story this is the reason why we always start well and not finish as started due to such treatments.
If there are people in the management mistreating players pliz minister it’s your house help us n the team fish them out, why harvesting where they did not plant.
Management need to stay in their line as management and who ever is in accounts pliz do what you signed up for and not be told by others for ka somethings like it was a norm.
Minister pliz look into these issues youths working hard are being pressed just as Nali is feeling now imagine those who can’t speak out the next thing they just die out and we wonder what happened.
The bembas say there is no smoke without fire.
Well done, Hon Nkandu. It’s good for the team’s morale.
That’s good leadership honourable, we need to be united there should be no need to drop any Player at this time it will only bring down the Team”s morale they are more like a Family they need each other……
Good move
Hats off for Hon Nkandu,Nali played a huge role for us to be part of the world cup.its just right to let her experience what she worked hard for, especially that it was not her liking to get injured ,Here for her ,here for every woman in sports.
Shepolopolo all the way.
Well done Minister
This is the reason why I love this government
Indeed that’s how it’s supposed to be done consultation is key to resolving surrounding hazel nali.congratilations minister nkandu for your candid and exemplary leadership on this matter.wishing the copper queens all the best at the world cup in new Zealand.i submit
I am glad Hezel is retained in camp.
Minister, you should also consider constituting a committee to investigate the source of all the squabbles in camp as well as who is sitting on the girls allowances.
Belalila abaice amasuku pamitwe.
Anyway kudos!
Well done Hon. Minister. That is leadership and timely. She deserves to be part of the team. They are one unit and it is unfortunate that she got injured just before the tournament. Copper Queens all the way.
Good for team unity that they are keeping my girl in camp. Well done minister Nkandu
Its all about oneness, She is a good goalkeeper and everyone believe in that. But don’t talk about the government because it has nothing to do with this. Descplin is descplin.
Nali we love and be yourself and work for the nation…..
Thanks minister for your support
In Morden football once a key player gets injured you have to keep him or her in camp .
This is wisdom from the minister, fairness has prevailed. Job well done.
This is indeed good intervention honourable, there was no need to drop prayers at this point, kudos minister
Thank God for the job well done, u have done so much for that u hold the team spirit wat ever misunderstanding with the coaching staff or executives as long as our nation we are moving forward.
This is the way to go FAZ and Hon. Minister. The girl must feel a once lifetime frenzy of being part of the World Cup. Zambia ku Chalo. All the best Copper Queens

Wishing Nali a quick recovery as we support the Copper Queens 👑🇿🇲 all the way
All the best Shepolopolo 🎉
#Here for her. Here for them 💚
Hopefully so….And remember she’s the reason we’re at the world cup for the first time in our entire football history she saved and scored the winner… whether injured or not she’s supposed to there with her teammates working together football ⚽⚽⚽.
Hon Minister, well done for resolving the issue of Nali. FAZ needs to introspect themselves repent from their sins of undermining the players. They should not make money from the players effort and tell us lies through fabricated situations to convince the Zambians and justify their stealing. Hon. Minister you are the only one who has proved your hard work in all issues pertaining to the welfare of the Youths. Please help clean up FAZ house for our comfort. I have been following your efforts through radio 1 on Sunday. You are the Leaders Zambia needs. Bravo Mr President on his appointment.
This is not fare suppose she did not complain about her situations wat would have happened? I think their is plenty of allegations of this type.will the government intervene on this calamity…
Well done honorable for addressing the issue because sometimes it’s not good to benefit from someone’s hard work.
Excellent move. Football is about team work. The injured, the non injured and the dead should all participate. 2012 Afcon was won because, we felt the spirit of our crashed heros with us. Captain Chris Katongo confirmed this fact. Nelly is a big boost to the rest of the team. Mwazachila mwane
Great 👌 news indeed Minister
