The Government of the Republic of Zambia has finally given a green light to allow the fans to return to the Stadium for the 2020/2021 football season.
Minister of Sport, Youth and Child Development Honourable Emmanuel Mulenga confirmed the development during a press briefing this morning.
“We have had an engagement between ourselves as the Ministry of Sport, Youth, and Child Development, The Ministry of Health and FAZ of course Sports Council of Zambia we’re part of these meetings. We have come up with guidelines that will be followed by FAZ. Following FAZ’s submission that we allow Fans to go back to the stadium, We submitted those suggestions to MOH who have come up with guidelines that FAZ should follow. We are happy to tell the fans that we have allowed the fans to go back to the stadium and watch the game which they love so much and is close to their hearts,” he said.
” Our appeal to FAZ and the clubs is to adhere to health regulations that have been put in place. They should make sure that Stadia does not become a breeding ground for COVID-19 or transmission of COVID-19 between the spectators,” he added.
Clubs will have to adhere to strict health guidelines set out by the Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The fans have been out of the Stadium since March following the surge in Coronavirus cases that forced the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to halt the league before resuming in August and finally ending it prematurely.
Fans are expected back in the Stadium in week four of the MTN/FAZ Super League which will take place on the weekend of 21st and 22nd November 2020.
