It was a good result, say former Chipolopolo coach

Former Zambia National Team assistant coach Irfan Kawri feels Chipolopolo got a good result at the weekend.

In an interview with Zambianfootball.co.am Kawri applauded the team’s performance.

“I feel it was a very good point away from home to go to away to a strong Cameroon side,” Kawri said from his base in England.

The 35 year old picked out the suspension of the Rainford Kalaba as the major negative from the 1-1 draw in Cameroon.

In the preview interview with the Zambian observer, Kawri showed his tactical and scouting acumen with the a very good analysis of the indomitable Lions.

Kawri pointed out that the Cameroon right full back was their main weakness and from the match Zambia attacked through that channel with the Chipolopolo’s real chance coming in the 30th minute when Kalaba released Chisamba Lungu on the left wing and the Ural midfielder teed up Mbesuma , who saw his shot go wide.

From the preview, Kawri also said Cameroon were weak and struggled to defend set pieces. .

Zambia’s goal came from a set piece while the best chance in the second half both came from a Chisamba free-kick as well as a resulting corner after the goalkeeper had parried off a Kondwani Mtonga shot.

Kawri was assistant to George Lwandamina at the 2016 CHAN tournament and helped Zambia to one of the best defensive record a major tournament.
