Goalkeeper Cyril Mwenya Chibwe has opened about being left out of Zambia’s African Cup of Nations squad.
The 30 year old has also hinted about his possible return to South Africa.
“Yeah, am coming back to South Africa, there is an interest in a few clubs there,” the goalkeeper who has five months left on his ZESCO United contract confirmed to KickOff South Africa.
And Chibwe says he’s not disappointed to miss out on the Chipolopolo Africa Cup squad.
“There’s just a lot that is happening here but again, if it’s not my time it’s not.
“We just have to support whatever (whoever) is there at the moment.”
The vastly experienced 30-year-old said he does not regret choosing Zambia 🇿🇲 over South Africa 🇿🇦 who wanted him to play for Bafana Bafana.
“To be honest at the time I decided to play for Zambia I just wanted to play for my father’s (May His Soul Rest in Peace ) country of birth and felt it was a right decision.
“I’m comfortable with my decision and feel it’s the right decision I believe.”
“When it’s my time, it’s my time, I believe everything happens for a reason,” Chibwe said.
South Africa like Zambia since Kennedy Mweene, have struggled to find Itumeleng Khune’s replacement and some felt South Africa born Chibwe could have been the answer to that search.
