George Lwandamina wrapped up the 2016 / 2017 Tanzanian Ligi Kuu Bara title with a game to spare when his team Young Africans (Yanga) beat visiting Toto Africans 1 – 0 in a rescheduled home match.
It was a tough match for Yanga who only managed to secure the goal late in the second half which ensured that Yanga sailed to 68 points three points better than second placed Simba.
Yanga have scored 12 goals more than Simba which is mathematically impossible for them to overturn even if Lwandamina’s team lose the final game.
Obrey Chirwa who is the team’s second highest scorer in the league with 12 goals (behind Simon Msuva – 14) started and completed the game and he was again impressive with his attacking prowess.
Justine Zulu was named on the bench and he came on in the 4th minute of injury time as the Champions elect were looking to wind down the clock.

The league title is a consolation for Yanga and Lwandamina who had brought in the Zambian mentor with the hope of at least reaching the semi final of the CAF champions league but failed to reach even the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.
Yanga play the final match away against Mbao on Saturday.
Lwandamina won the Zambian league in 2014 and 2015 with Zesco United before leading the Zambian club to the semi final of the CAF Champions league.
He was a runner up in the 2013 and 2016 season. He led Zesco to a third place finish in 2012.
2012 – League 3rd place (Zesco United)
2013 – League 2nd place (Zesco United)
2014 – League Winner (Zesco United)
2015 – League Winner (Zesco United)
2016 – League 2nd place (Zesco United)
2016 – CAF CL Semi final (Zesco United)
2017 – League Winner (Young Africans)
Well done to George Lwandamina.
Congrats Bwana George! The worst position on the league was three and that only twice since 2012? Commendable
Great achievement George!
Nice reporting Zamfoot!
Lets see what Obrey Chirwa can do for chipolopolo this time around, although i feel Zambian league is stronger, but currently we do not have any striker on fire but i believe the class is the permanent even though mbesuma is just coming from injury
Lwandamina cost us africa cup qualification last year by using those small boys.he shud never be allowed anywhere near national team in zambia.however, congratulations for yo achievements
