Zambia national team and Supersport United striker Gamphani Lungu is impressed with the Zambia national team preparations despite the 2-1 loss to Kenya in Nairobi.
Speaking to the media in a post-match interview after the South Africa Vs Zambia International friendly match played at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday which the Chipolopolo boys won by 2 goals to 1, The enterprising young talisman expressed satisfaction with the teams’ performance.
“The games have been so good despite us losing one of the games and winning two, we needed to win the South Africa encounter cause we really needed to show the coach that we are improving and we can easily combine between the foreign-based players and the locally-based players because there is no much difference as we all need to work hard to attain the desired results,” he said.
” I was working with coach Micho for the first time but I would say I appreciate him cause he is a straight forward person who will tell you exactly what he needs from you, he will sit you down and tell you what you need to improve in your position and very few coaches do that.”
“South Africa is one of the big footballing nations in Africa but we will not relax ahead of Botswana back to back AFCON qualifiers,” he added.
The soft-spoken former National Assembly football club striker also had a message for the fans back home as he encouraged them to continue supporting the team.
“Thank you for supporting us, even to those that criticize us cause criticism builds us, one needs to be strong to take criticism and we will continue pushing had to attain the positive results and impress our fans,” he said.
Coach Micho’s men were using the FIFA International window break to prepare for both the back to back Africa Cup 2022 qualifiers against Botswana and the Chan 2021 tournament which is scheduled for January in Cameroon.
