Gamphani Lungu on target in Supersport United’s final league game

South Africa based forward Gamphani Lungu scored his seventh league goal of the season to help Supersport United to a 2-0 win over Orlando Pirates on Monday 30th May 2022.

Gampy Jones doubled Supersport’s lead 69th minute via a spot kick.

The Buccaneers had a bright start but it was United who grabbed the lead after Makaringe headed into his own net on 20 minutes while attempting to clear Ngoma’s pin-point corner-kick.

The Buccaneers’ evening got harder six minutes after the hour mark as Happy Jele committed a foul on Thamsanqa Gabuza in the area, which resulted in a penalty and a straight red card too.

From the resultant spot-kick, goalkeeper Richard Ofori denied Ghampani Lungu but a re-take was ordered following an infringement and the Zambian converted at the second time of asking.

Matsatsatsa held on to win the match and secure a spot in the top eight.

Lungu has now managed nine goals and two assists in 31 matches in all competitions.

Next up Lungu will join the Chipolopolo camp in Accra, Ghana where they are preparing for the June 3 Group H Africa Cup of Nations encounter against Ivory Coast.

Zambia will host the Comoros Islands on June 7 at National Heroes Stadium in an 18:00 hours kick off.
