Striker Gamphani Lungu opened his goal account for the season in the South Africa, DSTV Premiership on Saturday.
Lungu rescued a point for Supersport United as he scored the equaliser in the 1-1 draw against the Chili Boys, Chippa United.
Matsatsantsa were the only remaining team with a mathematical chance of catching the league leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns hence went into the match eager to get maximum points.
It was a cagey affair in the opening 20 minutes with only half chances being created for either side.
The hosts claimed the lead in the 21st minute via an excellent solo goal from Ronald Pfumbidzai, who picked up a pass from Abid Banda in central defence, surged inside Siyabonga Nhlapo and fired a low shot past the left-hand of goalkeeper Ricardo Goss for 1-0.
Chippa gathered momentum and looked the more dangerous side and even came close to making it 2-0 only for the crossbar to deny them.
Supersport levelled matters in the 71st minute as Lungu rushed into a pocket of space inside the box to meet a Gabuza pass and slot home his first of the campaign.
Neither side found the winner as they settled for sharing the spoils, 1-1 the match finished.
The goal means Lungu has managed 3 goal involvements this season having assisted twice previously.
The Zambian international has had a dry spell this season despite having been in fire last season when he scored 7 goals and assisted 2 for Matsatsantsa.
