South Africa-based forward Gamphani Lungu says he is happy to be back in the national team set up.
Lungu has been out of the Chipolopolo Boys squad for a year having last played on 29th March in the 2-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Zimbabwe.
The former National Assembly and Power Dynamos striker has been in good form at Supersport United scoring five goals, his best tally in the DSTV premiership so far.
Lungu has called on the fans to rally behind the team and keep supporting them.
“It feels really good to be back especially being out of the national team for the past games,it really feels good to be called upon, atleast my work,my hard work is showing that I’m working hard at the club level so it’s really good to come back here,” he said.
“It’s important for us to start these friendlies and as a team we’re trying to build something, trying to jell because you know it’s like a continuity from the ones that we had, there are certain people who are not gonna be available but we keep on building and we are a strong nation, and we just need support from everyone, the fans our families yeah.”
“Just keep on sticking with us, just keep on praying for us,keep on supporting us because this game is for the fans, we do it for the fans as well and we can’t do anything without them,so yeah,” he concluded.
Lungu is part of coach Aljosa Asanovic’s 23 member squad for the international window assignments that will see Zambia play Congo Brazzaville in Antalya before playing another match in the same city with a yet to be confirmed opponent.
