Gallery: Egypt train in Emirates ahead of Zambia, Algeria friendly

The Pharaohs had their first training session on Monday ahead of friendly matches against Zambia and Algeria.

Zambia last beat Egypt at the 1996 African Cup of Nations in South Africa with goals from Elijah Litana, Vincent Mutale and late Dennis Lota. [3-1]

There was also a famous 1-1 draw at the Cairo International Stadium in 2009.

Francis ‘Mr Reliable’ Kasonde scored for Zambia while Emmanuel Mbola kept Mohammed Zaki quiet.

The Chipolopolo play Egypt on Thursday at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in the first of two international friendly matches during the FIFA window.

Coach Avram Grant’s charges will wind up the assignment next Tuesday in a clash against Uganda at the same venue.

The friendly matches are part of preparations for the November back-to-back FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Congo Brazzaville and Niger.
