Futsal: Zambia qualify to AFCON semi finals

Zambia 4 – 4 Mozambique

The Zambia Futsal national tam has qualified to the semi finals of the 2016 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations tournament after drawing 4 – 4 with Mozambique in a dramatic showdown.

Zambia opened the scores and Mozambique twice came from behind to ensure that the scores were level at half time.

Two goals within a minute in the dying minutes from Adrian Chama and Boniface Ndhlovu was all Zambia needed to snatch a point off Mozambique and seal a place at the semis.

The first half ended two-all with Flavio Boavida and Mario Junior scoring for Mozambique and Chama and Chanda Chungu for Zambia.

Early in the second half, the Mambas shot into a two-goal lead courtesy Flavio on 24 minutes and captain Ricardo Mendes three minutes later, only for the Zambians to level at the death.

In the other game, South Africa who beat Zambia 3 – 0 on Sunday suffered a 7 – 1 defeat at the hands of Tunisia.

Zambia proceeds to the last four with Group A leaders Mozambique while hots South Africa and Tunisia crash out.

The top three teams will qualify to represent Africa at the FIFA Futsal World Cup from 10 September to 1 October 2016 in Colombia.
