ZESCO Ndola Girls striker Fridah Kabwe has received her maiden Senior Women’s National Team call-up ahead of the 2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship slated for Johannesburg, South Africa from 4-15 October, 2023.
Fridah’s call-up is attributed to her fine form for ZESCO Ndola Girls in the current 2023/24 FAZ Women’s Super Division Season with three goals to her name which was from a hattrick in the opening game against Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles and she went on to have another decent performance against Green Eagles last weekend.
Kabwe, started her football journey with Park Stars FC in 2012 until 2015 before joining Makululu Stars were she spent 2 years with the Kabwe based team from Central Province.
In April, 2017, Kabwe joined Kitwe Girls Academy, a team in the Copperbelt Provincial Women’s League and stayed with the Stubborn Girls for a period of 2 years under the tutelage of Coach Stephen Kabamba.
After an exciting season with Kitwe Girls, Kabwe joined ZESCO Ndola Girls on 9th August, 2019 and since then, it has been an exciting ride on the roller coaster for her and last season she was among the top goalscorers for Zegalicious with 7 goals in the FAZ Women’s Super Division.
Kabwe will be a player to look out for this season with her exception dribling skills and speedy runs on the flanks and her national team call up will definitely help her to gain more experience especially in international assignments.
Zambia will open their title COSAFA Defence with a tie against Mozambique on October 5 at Lucas Moripe Stadium before taking on Angola three days later at Dobsonville Stadium.
The last group match will see Zambia locking horns with Comoros on 10 October at UJ Stadium.
