Former Zambia striker Brian Mwila joins Mufulira Wanderers

Former Zambia international Brian Mwila has completed a move to Mufulira Wanderers, becoming the latest addition to the Legendary Cup Fighters’ squad ahead of the  2026 MTN Super League transitional season.

The experienced striker joins the nine-time Zambian champions as a free agent after his short spell with Kansanshi Dynamos came to an end.

Nicknamed “Zlatan”, Mwila has enjoyed a well-travelled career, representing clubs across Southern Africa and Europe. The forward has previously featured for Platinum Stars in South Africa, SCR Altach in Austria and Sagrada Esperança in Angola, while also earning caps for the Zambia senior national team.

His arrival is expected to add firepower and experience to the Mufulira Wanderers attack, with the club viewing him as a key figure in its ambitions for the upcoming season.

In a statement announcing the signing, Wanderers highlighted Mwila’s pedigree and leadership qualities.

“A proven goalscorer for both club and country, Brian’s quality, leadership, and winning mentality will be invaluable as we strengthen our squad ahead of the upcoming campaign beginning in September. His arrival underscores the club’s ambition to compete at the highest level and achieve success.”

Mwila becomes one of the headline arrivals for Abena Milambo during the current transfer window as the club looks to re-establish itself among the league’s top contenders.

Mwila’s career has taken him across three continents. After beginning his professional journey with Lime Hotspurs, he earned a move to South African Premier Soccer League side Platinum Stars in 2017 before later signing for Austrian club SCR Altach.

At international level, the striker made his Zambia debut in 2017 and was part of the Chipolopolo squad that finished runners-up at the COSAFA Cup later that year. He has scored 10 goals in 20 appearances for the senior national team.
