Five things learnt from Maite v Nakambala

It has being quite some revivification for Mufulira Wanderers who, for the first time this season have managed to win three consecutive games on the bounce.

Nakambala Leopards was the latest casualty in a 3pm kick off in which both teams were looking to corroborate their positions especially with Warriors having beaten Real Nakonde and Nchanga having drawn against Green Eagles in Choma on Saturday.

PThe match saw Wanderers dominate for the bulk of the match with the home side having a missed a myriad of chances but a brace from Macha and an opener from Manziba was all they needed to end the game as victors via 3-1 scoreline.

Here are the five things we learned from the encounter:

SITALI IS STILL GOOD
He might be in the twilight of his career but Joseph Sitali run the show and was the creator of Wanderers’ two goals expertly taken by Macha-one a perfectly weighed in freekick in the Nakambala penalty area and the other one a pinpoint pick for Macha who could only score.

If that is a Sitali in his twilight, then Wanderers votaries would love to have more of it.

GIULY COMING TO THE PARTY
He has had to bear censure for often lacking the end- product. But not anymore, the pacey winger’s strides to satisfy the many aficionados who turned up to witness their local side’s resurgence was on show when he latched on to Rahim shot rebound to give Wanderers the lead.

He has now scored in two successive games and with safety not yet guaranteed, the fans would be hoping he sustains his form for the remaining few games.

MACHA CAN HAVE THE MIDAS TOUCH

Though his poacher instinct finish, on the day, was harbingered by a Joseph Sitali masterstroke, the technically astute striker was brilliant.

His knack to be in the right place at the right time was on show for the second goal where he took advantage of a melee in Nakambala’s penalty area to score Wanderers’ second of the day.

Justine Chinama will be relying on the same confluence and chemistry Macha has with the attacking trident to see his team off a tough remaining three games.

WANDERERS THE FORM TEAM GOING INTO THE FINAL GAMES

No team in the relegation has won more points than Wanderers in the last three games.

The legendary club has won all the possible points in their last three games with their closest challengers both, warriors and Nchanga amassing 4points from a possible 9.

If Chinama and co is to shirk the damn reality of relegation for the second season in a role, they must continue their winning binge and, on current form, they look well accoutered for that.
