FAZ president Andrew Kamanga is hopeful the process of naturalising United States of America (USA)-based defender Aime Mabika will be finalised before next week’s back-to-back 2023 Ivory Coast Africa Cup of Nations fixtures against Lesotho.
Kamanga said in his weekly column yesterday that they are hoping Government, through the ministries of Home Affairs and Internal Security and Youth, Sport and Arts, can wind down the process soon.
Zambia host Lesotho at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on March 23 and three days later travel to Johannesburg, South Africa, for the return leg.
Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Elvis Nkandu said yesterday that the naturalisation process has been completed and all that is remaining is for Mabika to be issued with a Zambian passport.
“Like I said last week, everything has been done and I am sure by now the passport should be ready but I will try to follow up with my counterpart at the Ministry of Home Affairs [Jack Mwiimbu],” Nkandu said
