FIFA President elections: FAZ throw weight behind Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa

FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya is in Zurich Switzerland where he, Commiittee member, Pivoty Simwanza and General Secretary George Kasengele will attend the 2016 FIFA Extra Ordinary Congress, which will elect a new President for the football world governing body on Friday.

Five candidates are on the ballot this Friday for the election to replace Sepp Blatter as FIFA president. The field of hopefuls includes Middle Eastern royalty, businessmen, veteran soccer administrators and at least one former political prisoner.

FAZ General Secretart George Kasengele has said Zambia will throw their weight behind favorite Bahrain’s Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa whom the Confederation of African Football(CAF) has endorsed.

“We are part of the African Football family under CAF and we shall follow what the continental  mother body has advised. CAF has taken a stance and as you may know our President( Kalusha Bwalya) is an Executive Committee Member there, we would not want to appear to be at variance with our leaders” Kasengele emphasised.

Outsider, South African Tokyo Sexwale, a former Robben Island political prisoner, says “I have come this far. I am used to obstacles.”

Others in the race are UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino, former FIFA vice president Prince Ali of Jordan and former FIFA official Jerome Champagne.

Blatter decided to step down amid investigations into widespread wrongdoing in soccer.

This is retrogressive and shows CAF is corrupt to the core… they aren’t even ashamed of dictating their choice to member countries…..It’s reminiscent of the old UNIP and other one- party-Gov of ‘toeing the party line or else you are banished’

    • The FBI in Zurich??? Really? The FBI is a domestic agency, the only way they would be able to arrest someone in another country would require that countries approval and also it would be a transfer of custody and they would never be actively involved in apprehending anyone. Don’t believe the movies man.

  2. Nothing like saying what and what caf is bigger than faz hence that support kalu is clever and intelligent Viva kalu viva pivot

  3. I hop Kalu hasn’t been oiled with oil money. I still remember the ‘shali ninkongole fye’ story, hop its treated as a grant 2 FAZ this time for ‘jst in case’ purposes. Will just leave it rite here……

    • That’s what it is unfortunately! It seems we just stand aside and watch the powerful, the greedy and their lackeys dictate everything in this world.

  4. People should see past the corruption case that has been built in the US and England. The truth of the matter is that UEFA wants to change policies on financial support that is provided by FIFA to member countries. Their thoughts are that countries who contribute or generate more revenue for FIFA should get more money than the current system where FIFA pays every member states the same amount. In other words; Zambia, England, Comoros all get the same amount of money from FIFA.

If things go the UEFA way, it will mean UEFA countries like Germany, England, France, will get more money than Estonia or Zimbabwe. This is why CAF has been trying to galvanize support behind someone who will maintain the same pay and also try to push for more slots for Africa in the world cup.

Then again, I might be wrong about this so get in there and read up by yourself.

  5. Rich man Sheikh-salman-bin-ebrahim-al-khalifa is to change FIFA into another ISIS- run Caliphate after these blatantly corrupt years of Blatter. He will ban women soccer and introduce sharia laws into FIFA’s referee’s handbook. Just for laughs!

    • Inclusiveness and tolerance can help us better than discrimination. Just check how the war in Syria is making good European countries look bad when they fell to handle the refugee crisis. Meanwhile all of us get united behind the European football giants and we pay for pay TV to get entertainment and a seal of that affiliation. Its the FIFA election, winner will have a job to do.

  6. Iwe kansengele makaka the ballot is confidential, why you tell us ati CAF has said this and that and we do like wid´se we chi puba we. Bushe democracy means what to you. Who has won the elections? Someone you chaps at FAZ did not support. This Cameroon fool should be charged for corruption as well. Why is the fool holding on o power?? FBI move now
