FAZ Women’s League: Wins for ZESCO Ndola Girls, YASA Queens, and Elite Ladies

Lusaka Dynamos Ladies Football Club came back from a goal down to record a 2-1 win and complete a double over Indeni Roses in a mouthwatering 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League week 17 encounter played at Ndola’s Indeni Sports Complex.

After a barren first half, Misozi Zulu who is back from Injury put the Roses 1-nil up in the 66th minute and that looked like it was going to be a good home victory for the Coach Wisdom Kaira drilled lasses, unfortunately, two quick goals in a space of 8 minutes ensured a great comeback from the Elite Ladies to win 2-1.

Xiomara Mapepa who put up a player of the match performance equalized in the 80th minute for the Elite Ladies before providing a second goal that was converted by Elizabeth Mupeso in the 88th minute to inflict a first defeat to Coach Wisdom Kaira from the time he took over from Benson Chambeshi at Indeni recently.

After all, was done and dusted The Elite emerged victors with a second win over The Oilo Ladies in this inaugural FAZ Women’s Super League encounter with a hard fought 2-1 victory that took them to 33 points and second on the log standings 3 behind log leaders ZESCO Ndola Girls.

Elsewhere at Shinde Stadium, it was another hard-fought victory for ZESCO Ndola Girls who defeated Mufulira Wanderers Women Football Club 1-0 courtesy of a lone goal from Happy Pinto and that was enough for Zegalicious to consolidate their stay at the top of the log standings with 36 points from 15 games played.

This is the second time Pinto is scoring against Wanderers because she was one of the scorers in the reverse fixture alongside Thandiwe Ndhlovu when Zega Girls edged The Mighty Ladies 2-0 at Trade Fair Grounds.

In Lusaka, YASA Queens’ Florence Kasonde scored the only goal of the match for the Stubborn Girls who edged National Assembly 0-1 at the Showgrounds to ensure maximum points for the Coach Tafara Phiri drilled lasses so that they can maintain their 4th position but they have moved to 27 points at par with Indeni Roses who are 3rd but only separated on goal difference.

Queens Academy pocketed a maximum of 3 points with 3 goals at the expense of Nkana Queens who are still forfeiting their matches owing to a disciplinary case that is not yet resolved.

Police Dove Queens was also supposed to host Red Arrows while Nkwazi Queens needed to play host to Green Buffaloes but their matches were postponed owing to several players from Arrows and Buffaloes who are currently in camp with the senior women’s national team that is preparing for the rescheduled 2020 Tokyo Olympics to be staged next month in Japan.
