The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Women’s League Lusaka Region entered Week 22 over the weekend with interesting results which came through across the city as the Big Guns: Red Arrows, National Assembly, Green Eagles, Green Buffaloes, and Yasa Queens recorded victories in their respective encounters.
The match between Kafue Cranes and Bauleni Queens did not take place because most players from Bauleni are currently in Camp with Zambia Under 20 Women’s National Soccer team who are preparing for the upcoming COSAFA Tournament to be held in South Africa.
At ZAF OP Grounds, Nkwazi had a tough time coming up against the Air Women who were too Strong for the Police Sponsored Outfit edging them 3-0 while the Parliamentarians silenced Chiparamba Breakthrough away from home 4-nil.
At Twikatane Grounds, Green Buffaloes beat Pamalat with a slender 1 nil victory courtesy of a Rechel Nachula goal.
Elsewhere in Chilanga, Yasa Queens got back to winning ways as they edged Lusaka Queens by 3 Goals to Nil through a Thelma Munkombwe Brace and a goal from Christine Nyirongo.
RED Arrows 3 – 0 NKWAZI QUEENS (Helen Mubanga, Libanji Ochumba, Mary Mulenga)
Red Arrows welcomed Nkwazi Queens in one of the Week 22 games of the weekend at ZAF OP Grounds In Chamba Valley. Goals from Helen Mubanga, Libanji Ochumba, and Mary Mulenga were enough for the Air Women to Pocket Maximum 3 Points as they keep increasing their momentum in the title race.
CHIPARAMBA BREAKTHROUGH 0 – 4 NATIONAL ASSEMBLY GIRLS (|Stacey G. Mwelwa, Elina Nyirongo, Twamala Nachilima, Norin Betani)
At Olympia Secondary School Grounds, Chiparamba Breakthrough where Silenced 4-nil by National Assembly. A goal each from Stacey Mwelwa, Elina Nyirongo, Twamala Nachilima, and Norin Betani were all that the Parliamentarians needed to go back home with the much-needed result.
GREEN EAGLES 2 – 0 LUYANDO FOUNDATIOM (Tryness Changwe, Natasha Nanyangwe)
Luyando Foundation had a tough task away at ZNS Grounds in Makeni visiting Green Eagles Women Football Club.
Coming from a hard-Fought 2-2 draw away to Yasa, The Foundation needed to overcome another stern Challenge from the ZNS Sponsored Outfit who have enjoyed great form so far and it was Tryness Changwe and Natasha Nanyangwe who rose to the occasion scoring for the home team, it was 2Nil in favor of the Eagles.
It was a bad day at the office for the Coach Mwape drilled side who played this match without 2 of their Key players Elessy Chilandula who is yet to fully recover from an injury she sustained against Yasa Queens last week And Susan Katongo who is currently in Camp with the Under 20 Women’s National Soccer Team.
For Green Eagles, they were home and Drive ahead of a Rescheduled Week 21 Midweek Fixture Against Nkwazi this Wednesday 24th July 2019 before Travelling To Yasa at the Weekend.
PARMALAT 0 – 1 GREEN BUFFALOES (Rechel Nachula)
Log leaders Green Buffaloes Women Football Club took a long trip to Twikatane Grounds were they locked horns with Parmalat.
This was a game where most people thought was going to produce a lot of goals in favor of the Soldiers but Pamalat stood their feet and were very strong holding the defending Champions until Rechel Nachula broke the deadlock as her goal proved to be very vital and decisive for the Women in Uniform.
LUSAKA QUEENS 0 – 3 YASA QUEENS (|Christine Nyirongo, Thelma Munkombwe X2)
A Thelma Munkombwe Brace and a goal from Christine Nyirongo was all that Yasa Queens needed to collect maximum 3 points at the hands of Lusaka Queens in a game played in Chilanga. It was a successful outing for the Coach Mervis Nachinga drilled side who who boosted their confidence ahead of this weekend’s mouthwatering encounter against Green Eagles.
