Full-Time Scores,
Green Buffaloes WFC 4-0 Queens Academy (Theresa Chewe x2, Lubasi Pumulo, Maylan Mulenga)
Green Buffaloes Women Football Club thrashed Queens Academy 4-0 in a 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League rescheduled week 19 encounter played this morning at Green Square Ground in Lusaka.
A first-half brace from club top goal scorer Theresa Chewe and a goal each from Lubasi Pumulo and substitute Maylan Mulenga was enough to send Buffaloes to second position on the log standings with 3 games in hand and just 2 points behind log leaders ZESCO Ndola Girls who have 42 points.
The reverse fixture between these two sides ended 1-1 in Kabwe at Jasmine Ground but today’s game was too much for Queens to handle as they succumbed to a painful 4-0 defeat at the expense of Buffaloes who have now gone 5 games unbeaten.
Chewe opened the scores with a well-headed goal before Lubasi could double the lead with a brilliant long-range strike.
Chewe made it 3-0 before halftime following a mistake by the Queens Academy defense poking home from close range.
Second-half substitute Maylan Mulenga concluded the scores with a fine finish, Quincy Malekani started the move with a cross into the area, which was brought back by Lubasi Pumulo finding Maylan in acres of space to smash a powerful shot into the back of the net.
Queens Academy remains rooted in 8th position with 23 points from 19 games played.
Buffaloes next assignment is a short visit to Bauleni against BUSA Queens on Saturday 16th October 2021 in the first of the doubleheader at 13:00hrs then it will be followed by 2021/22 FAZ/EDEN University National Division One Match involving Young Green Buffaloes and City Of Lusaka in a Lusaka derby which is expected to produce a fierce battle for bragging rights.
