FAZ Women League: Buffaloes face Queens, ZESCO Ndola girls away to Assembly as Nkwazi battle YASA Queens

The 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League Week 5 comes to light this weekend with all the matches set to be played on Saturday 17th April 2021 with only one match postponed owing to national team engagement for most Red Arrows players who were supposed to play against Lusaka Dynamos Ladies FC.

Nkwazi Queens will welcome YASA Queens at Edwin Imboela Stadium in a Lusaka Derby in an early kick-off set for 10:00hrs.

Nkwazi who were not in action last weekend will come up against YASA who have so far been drawing specialists after recording 3 draws out of 4 games managing only a single victory which was a week 1 encounter away to Police Dove Queens.

On the other hand, Nkwazi who have a game in hand have managed to pick up 6 points from 3 games with only one loss and will be bubbling with confidence going into this match as they will count on home Ground advantage while YASA will want history to repeat itself because the last time these two sides met was last year in the 2020 FAZ Women’s Provincial Championship semi-final with Stubborn YASA winning 2-1 in that match.

Nkwazi head coach Patrick Tembo says his team is ready for the match and is targeting maximum points.

“Yes we know YASA is good but we are ready for them, Our target is to get maximum points,” Tembo said.

Meanwhile, YASA Queen’s head coach Mervis Nachinga has revealed that midfielder Evelyn Mwamba is still out but Zambia U-17 Women’s national team winger Melissa Mataba has recovered and she is ready for action.

“As usual we take every game as it comes, National Assembly was another test, and this week we definitely looking for three points.”

At the Showgrounds in Lusaka, National Assembly will face another stern test this time around from Zesco Ndola Girls who are making their second return visit to Lusaka and will be hoping this one will be more fruitful compared to the last time they were here.

Assembly who has only managed 3 points out of 4 games will be looking forward to their first victory of the season while Zesco will be aiming for another maximum of 3 points in this encounter.

The Parliamentarians should brace themselves for a good run for their money by Zegalicious who can’t afford to lose points in this game that will kick off at 10:00hrs.

Later on in the afternoon, New Margaret Mwanakatwe Bauleni Stadium will host another interesting game as Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA) Queens entertain Nkana Queens who will have a long trip from Kitwe to Lusaka.

This will also be a second visit for Nkana to Lusaka and they will want to make amends by picking up maximum points because they haven’t had a good start in the league so far managing only a point in as many matches as they have played but coming up against BUSA it will be another tough task for coach Lucky and company who are in desperate need of maximum points.

BUSA is bubbling with confidence after they recorded their first victory last weekend at the expense of Zambia Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Queens and they will want to continue from that path but we shall wait and see how this match will pan out at 15:00hrs.

In Kabwe, Jasmine Grounds will be the venue as Queens Academy welcome their sister club Green Buffaloes Women Football Club at 10:00hrs.

Buffaloes will be making a return to action after missing out last weekend by coming up against Queens who are fresh from back-to-back victories over ZISD and Nkana Queens.

Queens Academy head coach Jackson Katoba says the team is ready for the match. He is also happy with the return of skipper Esther Siamfuko who was out with the National team last weekend.

“This is a very important game and a tough one, Looking at Green Buffaloes the way they play and most of their players are National team players it is going to be a tough game for the girls but we are ready for it and the girls know what it takes to face Green Buffaloes,” he said.

This will be an interesting match because the last time these two teams met was last year and the Buffaloes run riot with a 9-0 victory in the final of the FAZ National Women’s Championship at Nkoloma Stadium.

Indeni Roses will play host to ZISD in a game the Roses can’t afford to lose points especially after last weekend’s disappointing 1-nil loss at the hands of Lusaka Dynamos.

Roses Coach Benson Chambeshi knows exactly what is at stake in this match for his lasses while it’s a tall order for Coach Gibby Chimbalangondo’s ZISD tutored side who have had a bad start to the league with only a point so far as they continue pushing for better results.

In Solwezi, Police Dove Queens who are also in search of points will have a home date against Mufulira Wanderers at Solwezi Stadium.

The Fearless Girls will aim to gun down Wanderers who suffered a 2-0 loss last weekend against Zesco Ndola Girls.

This match might go either way because expectations are very high in both camps.
