The football Association of Zambia has terminated it’s Kit sponsorship deal with Singaporean Kit manufacturers Mafro. This is according to a press statement from the Association and made available to Zambianfootball.co.zm
The association has cited MAFRO’s failure to meet it’s obligations ads the reason. Despite the agreement for the provision of playing kit and replica jerseys, MAFRO has only partially fulfilled its obligation with regard to playing kit and similarly not been able to meet their delivery schedule for replica
FAZ and MAFRO signed a two year deal in may. The Association is already in the process of looking for a new sponsor.
“Following the agreement between the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and kit supplier MAFRO signed in 2017, FAZ wishes to announce a review of the partnership
The contract between FAZ and MAFRO was based on the premise that either parties would meet their obligations to the other.”

“MAFRO is therefore in breach of contract by their failure to meet these and several other conditions set out.
These matters have been brought to their attention and they have been given several opportunities to redress the situation to no avail.
In view of the current status, FAZ has begun discussions with other potential partners.
This decision by FAZ to discontinue the partnership with MAFRO will be followed by a claim for loss of business due to MAFRO’s inability to adhere to the contract and FAZ will be seeking legal redress.”

FAZ is killing me right now. It’s like they sat down this week and decided to just make some crazy decisions.
There was no communique on the MAFRO deal before termination, as in us the Zambian fans didn’t know that this was happening. Also you have only been on contract for about one year. Is there enough legal evidence to back this claim, because this can easily backfire on FAZ.

The MAFRO quality of the jerseys was like they were made in Kamwala by the Chinese chaps around. Numbers on the jerseys and the Zambia tag was coming out during games. Embarrassing it was for FAZ and us Zambians
This is good NEWS though like @Positive Thinking says i don’t know if FAZ are in breach of contract by terminating before the 2 year deal.
The mafro deal was a lousy deal and wreaks of corruption. But once again FAZ are “already in the process of looking” means, no due process, ample room for backhanders. It’s not enough to claim you are discontinuing the deal without explaining how you arrived at such a horrendous agreement and what steps are being put in place to avoid a repeat!
