The Football Association of Zambia FAZ has suspended the entire U17 technical bench in the wake of the embarrassing expulsion of the junior team from the on going Cosafa Cup.
Oswald Mutapa recently took over as head coach for the U17 and was being assisted by his brother Perry Mutapa.
FAZ SG Ponga Liwewe stated to ZamFoot that FA had reacted swiftly so as to allow for comprehensive investigations into the matter.
Other members of the technical bench suspended are; second assistant Charles Bwale, goalkeeper coach Kalililo Kakonje, team doctor Mwila Lupasha, physiotherapist Ephraim Mphanza and team manager Collins Phiri.
The suspension of executive committee member Kabaso Kapambwe has been referred to the executive committee.
The U17 were yesterday suspended from the Cosafa U17tournament for age cheating after two players failed the MRI test.
I’m told the bones of these boys grew whilst at the tournament!

I hope the entire football association executive suspends itself as well. The responsibility of the technical bench is coaching and not management; that is the responsibility of the executive, especially Ponga Liwewe himself as the CEO of FAZ.

We really don’t want to be cheating. The team might have still done well without the cheats, if indeed is it that.
If you suspend the whole technical bench that means you don’t know whose responsibilty it is for making sure the players are the correct age.
But why is the technical bench being suspended? ? It is not their job to confirm the age of the players. …its the team managers job….

Instead of buying a new and effective MRI machine and fix those who tested and certified that fake eligibility of some boys but you go for innocent people ba FAZ open your eyes naimwe.the combination of the Mutapa brothers was a deadly combination even if those two chaps were not there we would have walloped Kenya and Malawi.sad development though!
Where are our vocal Kamanga advocates?Its one disaster after another!It was the pontoon scandal,AFCON exit,the Mafro jersey scandal and now the age cheating shame!If this was Kalu,the headlines would have been insults after insults.Kamanga and Ponga teamed up in so many failed soccer projects and have a trail of failure and some gullible group of people decide they are the best gift Zambia has ever had since the world was formed!They will even mess up the under 20 hosting that they found already done for them!
I have been thinking and thinking.And guess what?……..What I have been thinking of is not anything difficul….in fact I could not answer the following questions :
.1.Is it Zambian players alone that were taken for the MRI scan?
2.How are the players who go for the scan process chosen from the rest of the
team?
3.Who carries out the MRI scanning at the tournament?
4.Why is Zamfoot not giving us a full report on the issue…I mean including details on the two quetions above?
Otherwise with little details as is the case I tend to feel that Zambia was a target of elimination by the fashion it has happened and I guess many would feel the same way.
May I challenge Zamfoot to inform us more regarding my questions above.
