FAZ pay tribute to electric Chipolopolo fans

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has expressed gratitude to the thousands of fans that turned to watch Tuesday’s Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Comoros.

FAZ took to Facebook to applaud the fans for the massive support they showed to the Copper Bullets on Tuesday night.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) wishes to convey its gratitude to the multitudes of fans that turned up at National Heroes Stadium to support the Chipolopolo on Tuesday night during the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.”

Meanwhile FAZ president Andrew Kamanga has congratulated the Chipolopolo Boys for the 2-1 win over Comoros.

Kamanga went on to pay tribute to the fans who created an electric atmosphere at the 60,000 capacity National Heroes Stadium.

“On behalf of the FAZ executive committee and the entire football family, I wish to congratulate the Chipolopolo for their victory over Comoros Islands. We particularly wish to pay tribute to the fans who filled up National Heroes Stadium,” Kamanga said.

“The fans are the lifeblood of the game, and ours on Tuesday night did us proud. There is no doubt that the boys felt the positive energy from the fans throughout the 90 minutes.”

“A big thank you to the fans who not only cheered the team but also made sure to be in KoPa regalia. We are proud that the fans have embraced a locally generated initiative that continues to grow.”

Enock Mwepu levelled matters for the Copper Bullets just before the half time break to cancel out El Fardou Ben Mohammed’s 13th minute opener.

Klings Kangwa then produced a moment of genius as he netted a brilliant free kick in the dying minutes to secure a win for Aljosa Asanovic’s men.
