Fashion Sakala features in Rangers’ defeat to Celtic

Zambian forward Fashion Sakala was a second half substitute in Rangers’ 1-0 defeat to Celtic in the Scottish FA Cup semi final on Sunday.

Rangers manager Micheal Beale opted to leave out the Zambian in his starting line up but that move backfired as the Gers went to the break 1-0 down after Jota’s header.

The Portuguese winger’s go ended Rangers’ any chance of silverware this season but kept Celtic’s treble hopes remain alive.

Alfredo Morelos, James Tavernier, Fashion Sakala and Rabbi Matondo all had chances to pull Rangers level but they could not find a way through the Celtic defence.

The 26 year old Zambian has scored 8 goals in 24 appearances this season with 17 of those as starts.

Last season he scored 9 goals in 30 appearances in his debut season for Rangers.

His best scoring season came in the 2020/21 campaign in Belgium when he hit 16 goals for KVO Oostende.

In the previous season, he had scored 8 goals for Oostende.
