Expert View: Has Foreign Quota affected Zambian Clubs?

When Power Dynamos won the 1991 Mandela Cup how many stars were foreign?

When Nkana reached the 1990 equivalent of Champions League final how many foreigners were in the squad?

Buildcon not too long ago was full of foreigners but were eliminated by a team from ESwatini right?

We know some clubs full of foreign players, have they qualified to continental football?

The quota system is about bringing quality foreigners.

Buildcon have had players from Serbia

Bring 5 best quality foreigners. Not ma plangas. By the way, the Councillors (administrators of football clubs-through the FAZ Council; the highest organ in Zambian football), people who run-not just talk about football, passed the quota system.

We had too many ma plangas some in Zambia due to nchekeleko taking up places in local clubs including Division 3 and stifling young local talent.

In the short term, it might hurt some teams but eventually it is a progressive move. If need be, refine but it should never be free for all.

Kenyan striker Jesse Were has been one of the stand out players in the league

Even the top leagues, there is some control, say English Premier League.

Those old enough shall remember how tough it was for Collins Mbesuma to get a work permit to play for Portsmouth despite being the best player in South Africa.

It can never and should never be free for all including ma planga who get to clubs due to nchekeleko.

There must be some sort of quality control and at present the quota system shall provide that.
