Evarine Susan Katongo joins Green Buffaloes

Copper Queens midfielder Evarine Susan Katongo has joined FAZ Women’s Super Division defending Champions, Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club.

The club and the player took to social media to confirm their union on Saturday shortly before their week 17 encounter against ZISD.

Katongo completed her switch to the Zambia army sponsored outfit after her contract at ZISD came to an end earlier this month.

Katongo made her debut on Sunday playing 90 minutes in Buffaloes’ 3-1 win over ZISD and was involved in the build up of the third goal scored by Vanessa Chikupira.

Katongo is a key member of the Copper Queens and her acquisition is expected to make the already strong Green Buffaloes side even stronger.

The 21 year old was instrumental for the Copper at the 2022 WAFCON helping them beat Nigeria in the third and fourth play off with a long range strike as they clinched bronze.

Katongo is a graduate of the Zambia U-20 women’s national team and has won the COSAFA Women’s Championship (2022) and was part of the team that won silver last year and produced two player of the match performances.
