Esther Mutinta – the goal poacher leading Choma Warriors hunt for Charity Shield glory

Choma Warriors Academy striker Esther Mutinta is one of the players to look out for in the upcoming 2024 Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Carling Black Label Charity Shield clash against giants Green Buffaloes Women Football Club set for 10th August, 2024 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Mutinta joined Warriors in January, 2024 and since then, she has established herself as one of the dependable players for Team Chopicho after making her debut in the club’s 3-1 victory against Kafue Celtic Queens on 20th January, 2024 in the 2023/24 Zambian Premier League (ZPL) / Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) National Division One Southern Zone match played away at Khosa Stadium.

Mutinta contributed a goal in this encounter for her fellow debutant Carol Nsondo from Mu Sports Academy who scored a hattrick for the Warriors of Choma over the Female Crocs.

Mutinta was usually a game changer coming on as a second half substitute, she managed to register 3 goals in 5 league appearances including a remarkable hattrick against Nchanga Rangers Queens in the playoffs to inspire Warriors to National Division One Championship title for both Northern and Southern Zone.

Mutinta, well known to be a fine clinical finisher in front of goal, scored a staggering 28 goals for Atletico Monze in the first round of the 2023/24 Monze District Women’s League and this caught the attention of Warriors who signed her as an addition to boost their striking options.

Mutinta’s hard work received presidential recognition from Atletico Monze President Beanstedy Kayanda who awarded her last month including the collection of her top goalscorer award of 28 goals because no player surpassed her record.

Warriors and Buffaloes encounter will be the first ever meeting between these two teams with all to play for in this clash which will Kick-off at 12h00 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium this weekend.

In the league perspective, Choma Warriors Academy is expected to make their debut in the Women’s Super Division and it will be exciting to see how the pride of Choma will account themselves in the Elite League especially with the addition of some new players who are yet to be officially unveiled.

Last month, Warriors announced their home games will be played from Independence Stadium which is the home ground for MTN/FAZ Super Division side Green Eagles and entry for Chopicho’s home games will be free as a way of appreciating the fans and the community for the support rendered to the team that has broken the record of more than 10 times as Southern Provincial Champions in a row.
