Enock Mwepu, Patson Daka debut in UEFA Champions league

Zambian prodigies Enock Mwepu and Patson Daka on Wednesday evening made their UEFA Champions league debut when they helped Salzburg of Austria to a thumping 3 – 0 win over KF Shkendija of Macedonia in the third qualifying round of the competition.

Both lads started on the bench but where introduced late in the game as Salzburg gained a huge advantage in qualifying to the next round of the competition.

With the Austrians leading 3 – 0, they were reduced to 10 men after Junuzović  was given a second yellow card in the 83rd minute.

Coach Marco Rose reacted immediately and brought in Mwepu to add steel to the midfield.

Daka was later introduced in the referees optional time as he made his bow in the UEFA top tier competition.

19 year old Daka last season made two appearances for Salzburg in the UEFA Cup.

Salzburg will be back in league action on Saturday before flying out to Macedonia for the return match on Tuesday next week.

  1. I’m glad Mwepu played midfield….I’m still not 100% sold on this thing of using him in defense.

    Well done to the lads….
