The Zambia under-23 National Team camp has been boosted by the arrival of European based duo of KV Oostende midfielder Emmanuel Banda and winger Edward Chilufya who plies his trade in Sweden for Djurgardens IF.
Banda and Chilufya joined the camp on Monday evening and Tuesday morning respectively after being released by their clubs. The duo joined their teammates for the morning session at El Nasr Sports Club in Cairo.
Russian based duo of Lameck Banda and Klings Kangwa who play for Arsenal Tula are expected to join the camp in the next 24 hours. Austria based duo of Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu and KV Oostende striker Fashion Sakala will be the last cogs in Chambeshi’s puzzle as they will join after featuring for their clubs in the weekend fixtures.
The Football Association of Zambia has also beefed up the Under-23 technical bench with the inclusion of a video match analyst, Serbian national Stefan Carevic who is UEFA A License holder.
The Serb was part of the Ghanaian backroom staff at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and has served at various clubs in Serbia, Albania, and Azerbaijan.
A physical trainer is expected to join the team in the next 24 hours as FAZ has gone out of its way to cover all possible grounds to ensure that the under-23 team is in the best shape as they campaign at the AFCON.
Zambia is in Group B alongside South Africa, Nigeria and Ivory Coast. The Bola na Lesa Boys will start their campaign against South Africa on Saturday before meeting Nigeria three days later.
