Zambian midfielder Emmanuel Banda and his Swedish team Djurgårdens IF have qualified for the group stages of the 2022/23 UEFA Europa Conference League.
Banda came on off the Djurgarden IF substitutes bench to play the last 5 minutes of their pulsating 2nd leg UEFA Europa Conference League loss away at Cypriot outfit APOEL.
Elias Andersson and Joel Assoro scored the goals for Djurgardens IF in the 3-2 loss at the Neo GSP Stadium in Nicosia.
Djurgarden however booked their place in the UEFA Europa Conference League following their superior 5-3 aggregate score having won 3-0 in the first leg.
A historic achievement and a huge success for Djurgadens which was celebrated heavily by the Järnkaminerna fans.
The draw for the group stage takes place on Friday 26th August at 14:30 (CET). Next up for Banda and his teammates is an Allsvenskan top battle when Elfsborg visits the Tele 2 Arena on Monday 19.00.
