Edward Chilufya ruled out of Niger clash

Winger Edward ‘Tiger’ Chilufya has been ruled out of Zambia’s FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifier against Niger.

The 24 year old did not travel with the team to North Africa after he fell ill

Speaking to the media on Monday, Chipolopolo Boys assistant coach Moses ‘Big Mo’ Sichone confirmed Chilufya’s absence.

“Unfortunately, we have only one patient Edward Chilufya who remained back home because of sickness. We are not hundred percent sure on his illness.

Right Benedict Chepeshi will start

Chilufya was late a substitute in Friday’s 4-2 victory over Congo Brazaville at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

He replaced Lameck Banda on the right flank and hit the cross bar.

With the Swedish based winger out, atleast there were some good news with the availability of skipper Lubambo Musonda

“We thank God Lubambo the captain is back in the team,” Sichone added
